Samsung upcoming phones are set to make July a lively month for fans. Company's next big event, Galaxy Unpacked, has its date nearly confirmed, July 22, plus for first time it's happening in London, outside that familiar Seoul or America. On this stage a whole batch of new phones plus watches will be revealed. Let me say first, nearly all details below remain leaked rumors, Samsung hasn't officially confirmed anything. So before treating everything as final, waiting until that 22nd is a must.

This time's biggest surprise hides in naming itself. Every year Samsung brings two folding phones, this time it's bringing three. Alongside that, its whole naming math changed. What was called "Fold 8 Wide" until now arrives as standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. What was earlier thought of as regular Fold 8 got promoted into Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Meaning this time that list holds three foldables: Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, plus Galaxy Z Flip 8.

Let me first speak of that new Galaxy Z Fold 8, whose real specialty is its wide body. Instead of that long narrow foldable of all these years, this is wide much like a passport. Inside sits a 7.6-inch 4:3 aspect ratio screen, outside a 5.4-inch cover screen, weighing merely around 200 grams. Its camera holds two 50 megapixel sensors, but no telephoto lens. This model is built mainly to battle Apple's upcoming wide folding iPhone.

Now that real giant, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. This is mainly true successor to last year's Z Fold 7. Word is it will carry a 200 megapixel main camera, a dedicated telephoto, a new 50 megapixel ultrawide, plus two selfie cameras. Its crease will catch eyes far less than before too, according to claims, helping it compete with rivals like Oppo Find N6. But its price is its biggest shock. Rumors say it may start at $1,999, reaching up to $2,499 in its top version. This could be Samsung's most expensive mainstream phone in history.

Third one is Galaxy Z Flip 8, that small folding clamshell phone. This time no big change comes in its looks, rather focus fell on inside improvements. Its body becomes at least 10 percent thinner than before, screen edges get slimmer too. In some markets it carries an Exynos 2600 chip, Snapdragon elsewhere. Price may start near $1,099.

But a sad rumor surrounds Flip 8 too. Two separate leaks claim this may be Samsung's last Flip phone. Just as Galaxy Note once bid farewell, that Flip series might get wrapped up too, because Samsung is now shifting its focus toward its Fold family. So anyone who loves Samsung's flip phones, this may be their last chance. Of course this isn't confirmed yet, it clears up on that July 22.

Beyond phones, much more sits at Unpacked too. Two new smartwatches arrive, Galaxy Watch 9 plus Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. Word is Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite chip gets used this time instead of Exynos, so more AI features run on watches themselves. Watch Ultra 2 may carry a new design plus a bigger battery. Beyond that, strong rumors surround new Galaxy Buds plus Samsung's first smart glasses "Galaxy Glasses" too.

On chip plus software side, both Fold models carry Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, exactly that chip sitting in Galaxy S26 Ultra, alongside up to 16GB of RAM. Every phone arrives with Samsung's new One UI 9 too, which this new Fold series receives first.

That final suggestion for an ordinary buyer is this. If you hold an older Fold 5 or 6, or want to lean into foldables for first time, waiting until July 22 is wise. If you just bought a fresh 2025 phone though, you may not find a huge difference in this upgrade. Whatever happens, everything from price to every detail clears up on that London stage. Until then, saving up curiosity is all anyone can do.
