Galaxy Z Fold 8 hype just got Spider-Man himself, with merely one week left before Unpacked. In partnership with that upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day film, Samsung released a 2-minute cinematic ad, right there calling Galaxy Z Fold 8 a "brand new shape". Meaning that new shape story is no longer a leak, Samsung says it from its own mouth now.
This ad's approach itself runs fun. Some devices appear fully open to view, while pricier premium models stay wrapped in mystery until launch. Within its first few frames came a look at new Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, though nothing new caught eyes beyond what renders had shown. That animated Spider-Man watch face appeared on its screen too, though hoping it arrives as a default for ordinary users is better avoided.
This whole ad's core tune pokes fun at phone durability. A few scenes show Peter Parker tossing broken, abused phones into a cardboard box. As its solution arrives a Galaxy Flip 8 built by nano-bots. Funny part, right after showing that Z Flip 8, real abuse lands on it, opened plus closed at storm speed in that furious style of worst phone calls. Its message stays clear: this foldable isn't a thing for breaking.
That real attraction, Galaxy Z Fold 8, stays almost entirely blurred though, hidden behind clever lens bloom. This phone gets called a "new shape", meaning attention's center isn't Ultra, rather that new wider standard Fold 8 itself. Its Ultra version appeared comparatively openly in later portions of this video. As a reminder, beside Fold 8 Ultra, standard Fold 8 will be shorter plus a bit wider when closed, plus take up plenty of horizontal space when open, making video watching more comfortable, perfectly fitting for films like Spider-Man, that ad's joke lives right there.
One scene sparked speculation though. Using a folding piece of paper something got shown, either a hint of a quad-fold device, or a metaphor for Fold 8's stronger design. 9to5Google's advice, better not to overthink it.
A solid foundation sits behind this loud durability push though. Samsung already announced its new foldables bring a "Flex Titanium" display, making folding screens sturdier. Meaning those phone-abuse scenes in this ad aren't mere jokes, rather a trailer of its product's real story.
Every answer arrives July 22, at Galaxy Unpacked. Samsung's reserve campaign already runs too: signing up early brings a $30 credit, alongside chances of savings up to $1,230, plus a bunch of $500 gift card giveaways of course. Spider-Man's web runs strong, Samsung's promotional web runs no weaker this time.
