Vivo G5i plus G5z arrived without any drumbeat, without any glittering event, as vivo quietly released these two new phones into China's market. Though carrying two separate names, here's a fun fact, both share one model number, V2531A, looking exactly identical from outside too. Both are now listed on vivo's official Chinese website.
Let's begin with price. That 6GB RAM with 128GB storage version starts from 2,199 yuan, while its bigger 8GB RAM with 256GB storage model costs 2,899 yuan. Meaning these are phones from entry-level to mid-range territory, aimed at ordinary buyers.
But inside this modest pricing, its real surprise hides in battery. Both phones carry a massive 7,200 mAh battery, alongside 44 watt fast charging. A battery this large at this price genuinely catches eyes. Vivo itself is marketing these phones on a durability story, claiming a "6-year long-life battery" plus "5-star drop and shock resistance certification". IP68 plus IP69 ratings come along too, meaning full protection from dust plus water, something rarely found at this price.
Now to inside power. Both phones run Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip, built on 4nm technology. Alongside comes fast UFS 3.1 storage. For daily tasks, social media, plus light gaming this pair is enough, though it was never built for heavy gamers.
Its screen holds a 6.75-inch LCD at HD+ resolution, but with a 120Hz refresh rate. Resolution stays modest, yet at least scrolling smoothness remains. Camera math is simple too: a 50 megapixel main camera at back, an 8 megapixel selfie shooter up front. Some useful extras exist as well: a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, even an infrared blaster for controlling home TVs plus ACs.
Vivo's goal here is clear. These phones didn't come to fight flagships on cameras or raw power. They exist for people wanting a dependable daily companion, one whose charge needs no worrying, one that won't stop hearts when dropped, one that won't squeeze pockets either. This battle of battery plus durability in budget phone territory keeps heating up day by day, with vivo's silent launch being a fresh move in that fight. For now both phones sell only in China, no word yet on whether they reach global markets.
